Artist Pirjo Leskinen paints delicate watercolors and enjoys capturing the magic of nature on paper with her beautiful brushstrokes

“Over ten years ago I fulfilled my long-standing dream. I took a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and participated in a week-long watercolor camp under the guidance of Konstantin Sterkhov. After the initial difficulties, the possibilities of watercolor painting opened up and I continue to study more. I have found a relaxed and free style in which water and pigments are an important element.

Nature and environmental issues are important to me. I paint a lot of nature, forests, waterways and fells. I trust my intuition, let the water move and the colors shine, I look for light and shadows in my paintings, enjoying the process.

I hope that the works convey to the viewer the meaning of the beauty of nature.”

Pirjo Leskinen - Itämeri itkee

“Your watercolour of the fish skeleton rising out of the tall green reeds gives me a really striking, almost dreamlike feeling, the glowing yellow and green tones together with the fine dark lines make it feel very alive. I love how freely and confidently you have painted this, it really works.”
